I am Japanese is about a phrase I was reluctant to use during my stay in Europe during COVID-19. I translated the phrase “I am Japanese” via Google Translate’s supported languages, then translated the resulting phrase with the next supported language listed. Repeating the process of translation using all supported languages (109 at the time) of Google Translate, I accumulated the phrases obtained from each language. The meaning gradually changed through accumulating translation; the final Japanese translation that I reached was “in order to listen”.
Perhaps we have language “in order to listen” to others’ voices.
